Dr.  Dinara Kline (Module 1)
Dr. Francesca Sammarruca  (Module 2)
Dr. Jason Barnes (Module 3)

Meeting time: Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

Course Description and Module Links (TENTATIVE):
The class will be divided into three parts.

Module 1 We will be exploring the mechanics of your everyday life, which will include exercise, sports, and transportation (automobiles, planes, trains, etc.). We will employ basic concepts of Newton’s laws, common sense, and life experiences to unravel the mysteries of how it all works. (weeks 1-5)

Module 2 We will look into the physics of light, modern physics, and their applications to everyday life. (weeks 6-10)

Module 3 will look at the physics of planetary climates, with emphasis on
understanding the science of global warming.  Includes discussion of
radiative equilibrium temperature, the greenhouse effect, seasons,
Snowball Earth, Milankovich cycles, ice age glaciations, the Sun, El Nino
and ocean circulation, consequences of global warming, and the physical
effects of mitigation techniques.
